A weekend in Detroit.
I’d like to do that sometime.
Where It Is
Guys, Belle Isle sounds great. It’s got an aquarium. It’s got a casino. (Not an actual casino, I don’t think, but that’s almost better, because what the hell is a casino if it isn’t a real casino?) Per Wikipedia, “there are canoes, paddleboats, and kayaks available for rental located at the Flynn Pavilion.”
What more could you want?
As promised, I took a look at the map of the circuit, and while jumping into Canada isn’t going to be as easy as I thought, I think the best bet is probably to try to put the ramp in turn six and just hope you have enough momentum. Might also be able to get away with putting a curved ramp in turn three, since that’s the end of the longest straightaway, but you’ll have to be able to execute a barrel roll in that scenario, and I don’t know if anyone’s practiced that.
When It Is
2:00 PM EDT
How to Watch
NBC
Who to Watch
The first site that came up when I googled yesterday afternoon, MyBookie, had Scott Dixon as the favorite at +400, followed by Josef Newgarden at +550. Colton Herta, Will Power, and Pato O’Ward are each at +900.
SRX
Didn’t realize what this was when I posted the weekend schedule yesterday, but there’s a thing called SRX happening on CBS tonight, and if you’re interested, watching it will probably explain it better than I can but the premise is basically to have some famous drivers (Hélio Castroneves, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, Bill Elliott, Tony Kanaan, Michael Waltrip, etc.) do a quick series of six local short tracks/dirt tracks, with some local legends racing in the field alongside them. Sounds like it could be neat. Broadcast starts at 8:00 PM EDT, I think.
