Indiana did all they could.
They only scored seven points in the game’s first twelve minutes, for crying out loud.
But sometimes, it’s just not your day, and you hold on to beat Northwestern in double overtime in Evanston.
Hoosiers are still on the outside looking in.
Other notes for today:
- Georgia Tech only scored 49 points, which is awesome, but they only allowed 57 to a visiting Virginia team, which is a little concerning.
- Iowa won and tweeted about how it’s now beaten five ranked opponents, neglecting to mention that none of those five will be in the top 25 on Monday, and none are in the KenPom top 25, which is an actual reflection of how good teams are. One of the five was Northwestern. An amazing Big Ten Stat of the Week. If Iowa pulls off this NIT berth they are going to be so mad.
- Mississippi State fell at home to LSU. Not what they wanted.
- Mississippi beat up Mizzou in Oxford. Not going to help them as much as they may think (it was roughly 50/50 that they’d win), but definitely solidifies them into the field.
- Providence got a nice win over UConn. Ed Cooley begins his comeback.
- SLU beat URI. URInation’s hopes have faded to a trickle.
- Wichita State almost lost to UCF in Orlando. But they didn’t!
- UNC-Greensboro grabbed the split with Furman. Wes Miller isn’t dead yet.
- Our dear friends San Francisco lost at home to Pepperdine. Might be time to declare them toast.
- Minnesota hosts Purdue this afternoon. Wouldn’t hurt to lose this one, Rich…
- Stanford hosts Colorado in what for them is also this afternoon. Probably don’t want to win that.
- Oregon visits Arizona State. THIS IS NOT A BAD LOSS, DANA ALTMAN.
- And if you’re still holding out hope for UCLA, they do play Washington State in Pullman this evening.
- Other NIT hopefuls in action: Boise State (hosts UNLV). Texas State/Georgia State (visits UT-Arlington/hosts Georgia Southern). Winthrop (goes to Radford). Belmont (hosts Eastern Kentucky, has some cushion). Eastern Washington (visits Montana State). Probably some others. Everyone is technically an NIT hopeful.
