Guess what I’m doing today.
Hmm.
Good guess.
I might actually not be doing that. I’m not sure if they let you just buy a pie at the place I was gonna go, as opposed to ordering one ahead, and even if they do, I’m not gonna be home for six or eight hours after I go there, so if the pie needs refrigeration, I’m going to need to come back.
No, not buying the pies today, I don’t think. But this week? Yes. I’m gonna be a pie purchasing man.
The situation is this:
We were told to bring something to share at an awkwardly but conveniently timed Christmas party this Saturday (6 PM start out in the country, so I’m assuming dinner there, but what if everyone only brings snacks…anyway we have another party which starts at 7:30 back in the city but I’m getting to that). We had some frosting left over from last weekend’s party (we brought frosted brownies), but the graham cracker frosting sandwiches always seemed like half a thing to share, not enough to stand alone, so I put the matter to rest by eating all the remaining frosting last night at 11:45 PM when everyone else had gone to bed (still have graham crackers left, though, so might buy some more frosting today while I’m out checking out the pie situation). Now, we need to buy or make something to share. We also have a friend’s birthday party that night, and we don’t necessarily need to bring something to that but once the pie idea popped into my head for the Christmas party, the thought of rolling up with a pie to the birthday party was too good to pass up. Nobody expects you to bring a pie to their birthday party. Immediately raises the energy in the room.
That’s my assumption, at least. We’re going to find out. I’m going pie hunting, and I’m not coming back until I have my weekend pie plan assembled.
