If I Was the Donda Academy Principal

Donda Academy—Kanye West’s high school, as in the one he started, not the one he attended—may or may not be closed. I’ve lost track. They allegedly emailed parents on Thursday saying they were closing for the year, and then they walked it back, and now I don’t know. This sort of matters for college basketball—there were some good recruits at that school—which is why it’s on our radar, but it doesn’t really matter for college basketball. If this affects the NIT, it’ll ideally be in a way where one of the recruits involved ends up at a different school than he would have otherwise and we somehow find out that’s what happened and then he wins the NIT at the school he does attend and we can do one of those butterfly effect graphics in a world where Kanye West is no longer in an online war against an historically persecuted people so this is all funny again and not concerning and scary and sad.

Anyway, that’s mostly beside the point. The point is: If you were the principal of Donda Academy, wouldn’t you also just assume the school was closing its doors? Feel like the guy got a call after he sent the email and was like, “Oh, really? Well, how soon are we actually closing, then? Do I need to send a second email?” That’s what I would have done. I would have emailed the parents, shut the laptop, and assumed it would work itself out. Turn off the phone for a while and all that. That school is closing. We all know it.
