I love Yu Darvish.
I’m not sure I’ve made this clear enough with my frequent tweets along the lines of this:
But in case I haven’t:
I love Yu Darvish.
Last night, when he clapped back on a sports talker’s wrong take (I don’t know enough about the sports talker to pass any judgment on him, but it was impressive to see Yu come out calculators blazing) immediately after letting a fart disrupt his postgame comments, I knew I needed to do something about that love.
Nothing criminal, of course. I’m not looking to disturb Yu.
Something supportive.
Which is why I’m going to try to learn to read Japanese.
Darvish is Japanese, which is why many of his tweets are Japanese. And to better support him, I think I should learn to read those tweets.
For the foreseeable future, then, I’m going to take one step towards learning Japanese every time Yu Darvish starts a game. And the first step, of course, is to find a plan.
To do that, I did some googling. I’ve found a guide that seems as good as I’m going to get for free on The Internet™. Having located the guide, I have completed step one.
Stay tuned for step two early next week.
