I was under the impression the Olympics weren’t going to happen when, earlier this year, there were those stories about people in Japan not wanting the Olympics to happen. Turns out it didn’t matter what those people thought. The games go on! I think. Still feel like I’m not hearing a ton about them, but maybe I’m not listening. Who’s to say.
One thing I’ve realized, not having the Olympics for three years (instead of the usual two years), is that I am out of Olympics shape. I know so very little about the Olympics. I had a reaction, when I realized the Olympics were happening this year, that consisted of wondering if they were really happening and then wondering if the Winter Olympics were happening this winter, because they’re supposed to happen this winter, right? Also, are they still going to have a World Cup in Qatar? There was some bribery there, right? And where was the last one? I remember it happening but don’t know where it was. Was one going to be in Russia?
Clearly, I’m capable of remembering about sports if they’re biannual at most, which brings me to the real point of all this, which is that I’m lucky they didn’t cancel the NIT two years in a row or I’d be a disaster right now.
