IndyCar’s off this week, and to test myself as the world’s newest IndyCar blogger, I’m playing one of my favorite games, which is “How many active athletes can I name in the sport and/or on the team I’m supposed to be blogging about?”
Here we go.
Álex Palou.
Takuma Sato.
Scott Dixon.
Helio Castroneves? Did he retire?
Will Power.
Patricio O’Ward.
Colton Herta.
Jimmie Johnson kind of. (Not doing ovals, right?)
Graham Rahal? He’s active, right?
Hmmm Botti or Rotti or something…
Oh shoot the F1 guy who almost died in the fire. He’s doing the no-ovals thing too, right? What’s his name?
Ok I give up, let’s see how I did.
Oof, forgot Josef Newgarden. Got Graham Rahal (and Palou/Dixon/Herta/O’Ward, the winners so far this year). Forgot Simon Pagenaud. Didn’t know Scott McLaughlin existed. Got Will Power. Got Sato, have never heard of Jack Harvey or Rinus Veekay, Alexander Rossi was Botti/Rotti guy I was thinking about, Romain Grosjean is the F1 guy I forgot, Castroneves shows up on the standings but doesn’t have any points so I’ll have to figure out what’s up with him, similar thing is true of Marco Andretti whom I didn’t name (although I did think “isn’t there an Andretti, still?” and then the thought passed from my mind while I typed something else), wow Juan Pablo Montoya’s on these standings.
Ok. So it seems like I know eight or nine drivers, depending if you count Grosjean (I’m not counting Rossi). Could get that up to twelve or thirteen if I hammered the ones I should know. But I’ve got a ways to go. Thankfully, the season’s not over until (clicks over to check schedule) hey, it ends on my birthday! Ok we’ve got some time.
