Jason Heyward doesn’t get enough credit for two things. The first is that the Cubs probably played a role in getting so little production out of him over the first two thirds of his massive contract (especially considering how many other formerly great young talents turned into either good or mediocre talents over that stretch). The second is that he had a great 2020 and helped the Cubs win a division title, disappointing as the year ended up being.
Something he gets a good deal of credit for is being a good guy. Good teammate. Good leader. Good community member. This is good, because all of it is true. And today, in particular, it’s on display:
