Recently, we ranked the FBS Conference Headquarters. In doing so, we discovered people have been leaving Google reviews for these conferences. Here are those reviews:
Big Ten Conference
4.4 Stars, 54 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: From one month ago. Jay G, who has written six Google reviews in his career, writes: “Not a very smart conference. Made a decision to cancel fall sports including football this year about 4-6 weeks before they needed to, and now have put their entire future (emphasis mine) in jeopardy if other major conferences decide to play and make them look like fools. Why in the world would a conference do that to themselves?” One star.
Noteworthy good review: From four days ago. Huw Winston, a local guide, writes: “Nice interactive museum.” Four stars.
Other notes: There are reviews on here saying things like “One of the premier NCAA conferences that out (sic) their students first,” leading one to wonder whether Big Ten fans or Big Ten employees are writing these reviews, and leading one to further acknowledge that either of those scenarios would be an extremely Big Ten thing to happen.
Big 12 Conference
2.6 Stars, 11 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: From eleven months ago. Rando Ammons, who has written three Google reviews in his or her career, writes: “Your treatment of the Texas Tech AD is a disgrace to the conference.” One star.
Noteworthy good review: From seven months ago. Bubba Hobbs, a local guide, writes: “Texas Tech Raiders Is In The Big 12 Conference [Picture of Raider Red at a football game, possibly one on the road at Arizona State?]” Three stars.
Other notes: Very binary reviews here. Lot of no-explanation five stars and no-explanation one stars. Perhaps an investigation into timing and fanbases is in order.
Southeastern Conference (fancy name for the SEC)
2.6 Stars, 26 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: From one year ago. Archie Ackerman, in his only Google review, writes: “I remember when SC left the ACC and my father said, ‘good news – you’re leaving Tobacco Road refs – bad news – you’re getting Birmingham refs.’ Several calls in the 2019 SC Alabama game were awful and favored Alabama: the ref told Coach Muschamp no replay and then there was replay and the holding call on the fake field goal. No, I am not saying SC should have won; but is (sic) should have been a lot closer.” One star.
Noteworthy good review: From one year ago. Robert Evans, a local guide, writes: “Very nice headquarters for the Southeastern Conference. The top notch branding of so many areas are just what you would expect for the SEC. Very representative of the leading edge look you see at the many SEC championships from baseball and basketball to football and so many others.” Five stars.
Other notes: Some dude named Robert wrote a three-paragraph satirical review about the league’s relationship towards Alabama. Not typing it all out here but it’s on The Internet™ if you want to look for it.
Mountain West Conference
3.7 Stars, 3 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: From three years ago. Tyler Franks writes: “Craig Thompson is a joke. Worst conference ever.” One star.
Noteworthy good review: From two years ago. Bob Schmitt, in his only Google review, writes: “The people here work so hard and do their best to help the league” Five stars.
Other notes: The third review is just a picture of a display of the league’s helmets. Five stars.
Pacific 12 Conference
3.0 Stars, 2 Reviews
The bad review: From one year ago. Jake Eff writes: “Absolutely shameful. FIRE LARRY SCOTT. He belongs in *prison*. FIRE Woodie Dixon. This is grifting at a very high level. Pac12 alum with Pac12 professor emeritus family here. FIRE LARRY SCOTT.” One star.
The good review: From four years ago. Howard D writes nothing. Five stars.
Other notes: Respect to Pac-12 fans for being emotionally regulated enough to not vent their frustrations in their conference’s headquarters’ Google reviews. Not including Jake. That guy vented his frustrations in his conference’s headquarters’ Google reviews.
Atlantic Coast Conference
4.3 Stars, 11 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: From four years ago. LTC 6607 writes: “Syracuse, Pitt and not ECU – gotta be kidding! Come on … have some common sense. Am I going up there for games – not going to happen. Am I going to NY for the ACC basketball tournament ? Again, not going to happen. Will I go to Greenville for games, of course. So – come on John, when’s ECU going to gain some respect and ACC attention?” Two stars.
Noteworthy good review: From three months ago. Anthony Anderson writes: “Serenity!!!” Five stars.
Other notes: None. I’m still processing LTC 6607’s argument on behalf of ECU.
American Athletic Conference
No reviews, because these guys are hiding across the freeway from the Big 12 and aren’t easily found on Google Maps.
Conference USA
4.0 Stars, 4 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: From four years ago. Joe Webster writes nothing.
Noteworthy good review: From “just now.” NIT Stu writes: “Haven’t been personally, but looks like a great spot with a nice little trail nearby. Maybe a good wedding venue? Best of luck to the USA’s finest conference! Glad to have you in Texas.”
Other notes: Google’s still showing 3.7 stars but it should be 4.0 stars soon.
Mid-American Conference
4.5 Stars, 2 Reviews
Noteworthy “bad” review: From five years ago. Michelle Bradshaw writes: “Our room was Very cozy and comfortable, and the Dining area for breakfast was great and Alba our waitress was fantastic” Four stars.
Noteworthy good review: From three years ago. Raychelle King writes: “Perfect for business crowd” Five stars.
Other notes: The MAC wins. Really. They have the most stars.
Sun Belt Conference
1.0 Star, 2 Reviews
Noteworthy bad review: Ok both the reviews are bad and neither person wrote anything.
***
Tale of the tape: MAC wins, Big Ten gets an asterisk for being annoying, so the ACC’s the official runner up and CUSA’s in third. Congratulations to all who participated.
