Last night, when listening to “Beverly Hills” by Weezer (sung by a friend over voice memo), I missed the word “floors” in the verse that goes:
Look at all those movie stars.
They’re all so beautiful and clean.
When the housemaids scrub the floors,
They get the spaces in between.
Naturally, this made me think of toilet paper, and of Weezer’s prophetic reference to how expensive toilet paper would become on the black market during the coronavirus pandemic, making it such that only movie stars could afford it. Which then reminded me:
Did the toilet paper shortage from last March ever end? Asking for myself.
