Could the 2022 NIT Put Boise on the Map?

Joe did a thing earlier where he took the top overall seed in Joe Lunardi’s bracketology for the other tournament and called them a favorite. We don’t have that luxury for the NIT, because for one thing, the top overall seed in even the best NIT bracketology is hardly 50% likely to make the field entering even Selection Sunday, and for another, there’s no NIT bracketology this early (it’s just too hard to predict, especially compared to the other tournament).

Still, we have Lunardi’s bracket, so we’ll use it. If we say the most comfortable NIT contenders sit two seed lines out of the other tournament (an intersection between being good and not quite being on the thick part of the bubble), that gives us Creighton, Wichita State, BYU, and Boise State. Which is a great NIT list to choose from. Wow. I didn’t realize how good this was going to be. Every one of those fanbases would turn out in force for NIT games. Every one of those has, I think, and recently. Goodness. This could be the best NIT ever.

Anyway, we’re here to talk about Boise State.

A good friend of the blog recently moved to Boise, and he loves it. He moved from Albuquerque, which he didn’t love (or maybe loved but didn’t like), so it’s possible some of this is relative, but he’s having a blast in Boise. A small, charming, growing city…but with potatoes. Can you think of anything better?

This brings me to the next point of order: Should Boise State do the quite possible and bring the NIT title to Idaho for the very first time, it might be Boise’s breakthrough moment as an American city. Which brings me to our final piece of business for today:

We should all probably buy real estate in Nampa, if not Boise proper.

This is not investment advice this is…an NIT preview? We’re not sure what this is. Not investment advice, though.
