Congratulations to Sevilla, the European NIT champions.
In a dramatic victory yesterday (in classic NIT fashion, the decisive notch was an own goal), Sevilla claimed their sixth Europa League title, twice as many as each of the four clubs with the next-most, leading many to ask—justifiably—whether Sevilla is the greatest footie club on all the pitches.
The answer, of course, is yes.
No, no, don’t worry. The Barking Crow has its feet full already with Burnley. We will not be watching Sevilla this upcoming season. But at the same time, know this: Like Robert Laybourne keeping an eye on Troy Barnes, we will be watching you, Sevillers. For one day, when the tectonic shifts are complete—when Pangea is #back and all the colors are one once more—the European NIT and the real NIT will morph into one WIT. Sevilla. St. John’s. James Monroe. All of us shall be together again, as it was in Eve’s womb. And on that day, we shall rejoice.
Together.
