On the Court

Texas State isn’t bad. They’re better than one Big 12 team (I’ll let you guess who). They’re among the Sun Belt favorites. They could also end up deep in the Sun Belt pack. The Sun Belt isn’t bad.

Overall, this is a night for Texas to play its own game. Work on the execution. Work on getting some guys going. Jericho Sims has been scuffling a bit, and I don’t know if he looks sad because he’s sad or if he looks sad because his eyes just have a sad look about them, but get him opportunities inside to remind him that he can dunk on fools. Work on getting Andrew Jones some open looks to iron out his shot. Set Greg Brown up for some back-cut jams.

Yes, Texas can’t take Texas State likely. This isn’t UTRGV. But it also isn’t Villanova, or even Davidson. Grab control early. Make it a relaxing night. Then work on the things that need work.
