The Burnleys have done it. We asked if they could score a goal. They scored a goal. We asked if they could win a match. They won a match. At this point, the question may no longer be what can Burnley do, but what can’t they do.
And we’ll probably get the answer this weekend, so let’s enjoy what happened today.
The Result:
Burnley 1. Palace 0. Victoire! Victoire!
How It Happened:
Chris Wood. Eighth minute. And, of course, some saves from the guy Nick Pope.
What It Means:
For once, the relegation probability has receded, dropping on FiveThirtyEight from 44% (after the Brighton draw) to 38%. More immediately, Burnley’s now 17th in the table, which is outside relegationland.
What’s Next:
There is no match on Saturday. Nope. Burnley definitely doesn’t go down to play Manchester City in the big town. Next match is definitely a week from Saturday, when Everton comes to Turf Moor.
Other News:
I don’t know of anything. Didn’t read the recap. Just been swimming in the bliss of the score, man.
General Thoughts:
A really mean thing you can say to someone is that you don’t like their shirt. Because they probably chose that shirt, you know?
Burnley Thoughts:
Fired up. Nice to get a win. Hopefully a point’s in the cards over the next two weeks.
