Each of the last two weeks, Burnley has choked away a good lead in an important, winnable game. It’s been frustrating. I’ve been frustrated. But don’t expect them to make the same mistake again today. Because Burnley is a humongous underdog.
Whom:
Burnley vs. Manchester United
What:
EPL match number 32 for the Clarets
Where:
Wherever Manchester United plays. Probably has some famous name. I probably know it. I’m not looking it up. It makes no difference to me. I mean, yeah, I know it’s in Manchester, but the stadium name? Not something that affects my life. I think I’d get it at a trivia competition, but I don’t want to place a guess here. The blog is no place for guesswork. Right now.
When:
10:00 AM American Central Daylight Time
How to Watch:
It’s on NBCSN, so you can watch on your Sling TV app while trying to stay in wifi range while your puppy attempts to eat every leaf off of every tree in the yard and you think it’s probably fine but you’re not sure so every other leaf or so you try to lure her away with treats and it works for about 45 seconds.
What’s at Stake:
The future of human existence.
Nah, Burnley’s just trying to not get relegated.
Burnley’s seven points up on Fulham for the final relegation spot, with seven to play counting today, a game in hand and Fulham playing Arsenal in a match that should end shortly before the Burnley kick. That’s a decently big gap. But Burnley’s also been playing impressively badly over the final half of games (sometimes more than that!). So they are far from locked into another EPL season.
The Odds:
I’m seeing Burnley at -265 to lose, +400 to draw, and +800 to win. So about a 30% chance of at least a point? That’s actually not too bad.
Burnley News:
Ashley Barnes, Robbie Brady, and Kevin Long are all still out, while Nick Pope and Dwight McNeil are uncertain. In the process of acquiring this information, I came across the following tweet, and I wanted to share it because it made me laugh.
Bertie News:
Wow those were great ok good vibes let’s go beat Man U I’ll be keeping a loose eye on things.
