Liverpool hasn’t lost, or even tied, at home this season. Liverpool has hosted a lot of foes better than Burnley. But has Liverpool faced a team with as good of vibes as Burnley has right now? Probably, yes. But possibly, no.
Our beloved Burnleys are hot, coming off of a road victory Wednesday and some luck on Thursday, when VAR messed up and helped Bournemouth draw with Tottenham, keeping the Spurs even with our lads in points. As it stands entering the day, Burnley’s three points back from pulling even with Wolverhampton for a definite Europa League spot, and two points back of pulling even with Sheffield for a probable Europa League spot, and one point back of pulling even with Arsenal for a possible Europa League spot. Even with a loss and some inconvenient results elsewhere, glory shouldn’t be too far out of reach.
Obviously, Liverpool will probably absolutely stomp on Burnley, and given how spectacularly injured Sean Dyche’s men are, no one could blame the man for not just parking the bus but parking every player of value and looking ahead to Wednesday’s visit from the Wolves. But we, the Burnley faithful (NIT bloggers who decided to have a favorite EPL team for content and picked the most irrelevant one and are now mildly emotionally invested because the European NIT is within reach and there aren’t many other sports happening), are allowed to hope.
Hope on, friends.
At least for a few more minutes. Because they kick off soon.
