For those of you new to the program, I am NIT Stu. I sometimes blog about Burnley. I’m not sure why this happened. I know how it happened (a year ago last weekend, I went through the Premier League team-by-team and picked the one that seemed to fit me the best—i.e., the one that seemed beautifully irrelevant *at the time* but also blue collar). I just don’t remember what possessed me to do it. I’m glad it happened—it was pretty fun to refresh the Burnley Twitter page one morning every weekend to see what was happening, and those ten minutes I watched of the match at Liverpool were a buzz—but I do not know why it happened.
Anyway, still here. Still a Burnley guy. Even though Fulham’s back. Fulham never won my heart like Burnley did. And because I’m still here, it seems an offseason update is in order. And that update is that I have no idea how the footie offseason works.
There appears to be something called a transfer window. I think this is a section of time in which teams can buy the rights to players from other teams, but there’s no way to know for sure. It also seems like there isn’t really free agency in footie?
Regardless of how it works, Sean Dyche said Burnley’s either going to hold onto its guys (Dwight McNeil and Nick Pope seeming to be the main two in question) or make a ton of money, and as Burnley’s biggest fan in the 78751 zip code (to my knowledge), let me just say that 1) I believe him, and 2) I’m in favor of either; but I’m prepared to change both those stances if pretty much anyone tells me to feel otherwise. Third stance is that I want more Bertie content. That one’s not negotiable.
