Burnley Is Such a Tease

Aw, guys. Did you really have to do it like that?

The Result:

Manchester United 3, Burnley 1

How It Happened:

Burnley held it scoreless through the first half, and even answered right back when the hosts took the lead a few minutes after the break. But in the closing minutes, the lads weren’t enough, two more goals were scored, and Burnley goes home pointsless.

What It Means:

Fulham drew with Arsenal (backbreaking way for the Cottagers to miss a win, there, giving up the equalizer well into stoppage time), so Burnley only loses a point. They now lead their relegation opponent by six points with one game in hand. Relegation probability largely unchanged by the day’s events. Burnley has six to play. Fulham has five. The two meet on May 8th.

Other News:

No Nick Pope again. Also, evidently the big six teams are trying to join a Super League, which could really mess up the Premier League and English football in general. Or at least that’s the fear. We’ll see. Seems like a detailed thing that I’m not the guy to address. As far as Burnley goes, the primary focus seems to be avoiding relegation right now. As though there’s anything Burnley can do to influence those six anyway.

General Thoughts:

Had a good one of these yesterday, I thought. Maybe I just tweeted it instead.

Burnley Thoughts:

I mean, flashes of good play again. Just feels sad, and feels like Sean Dyche is leaving after this season, which amplifies the sad.
