It continues.
It being Burnley.
Whom:
Burnley vs. Aston Villa
What:
EPL match number 19 for the Burnleys (but matchday number 20, meaning we’re into the second half of the round robin)
Where:
Turf Moor. Heck yeah.
When:
12:00 PM American Central Standard Time. High noon. Here in Texas, anyway.
How to Watch:
Ugh. Peacock. Might have to try the free trial.
What’s at Stake:
Burnley enters the day 15th in the table, and if Chelsea crushes the Wanderers (remember, they’re humans, not wolves, and should be treated as such) and Burnley knocks off the Villans, the Burnleys could rise as high as 14th. Regardless of the Wolverhampton actions, a win would leave the Clarets one point back of Crystal Palace with a game in hand. Crystal Palace is currently 13th.
On the other side, losing presents the risk of getting passed by Brighton, who’s currently two points back and plays Fulham today, and losing by a lot (three or more) would push Burnley down past Newcastle, who currently only trails our lads on goal differential.
In other words, best case the lads climb to 14th, worst case they fall to 17th. Relegation starts at 18th.
The Odds:
NBC (didn’t check where they were getting this—closed out in disgust when I saw the game was on Peacock) said Aston Villa was at -110 to win, meaning Burnley’s basically a tossup to get at least a point.
The Opponent:
Jack Grealish. He is the opponent today. The rest of the Aston Villa squad is merely his accessory.
(I know very little about Grealish but I know I hate him)
Burnley News:
No Transfer Window action yet. Charlie Taylor’s back to doubtful. Ashley Barnes, Josh Brownhill, and Robbie Brady are questionable.
Bertie News:
Nothing new. But in my quest for news I did learn there’s some statue named Bertie in Liverpool. Evidently predates the upset. Also isn’t a bee. It’s a bird.
