Burnley. Chelsea. At Dawn. (in the U.S.A.)

Early morning shift tomorrow.

Whom:

Burnley vs. Chelsea

What:

EPL match number 20 for the Clarets

Where:

Chelsea. Which is in London. Right by Fulham if you remember them. Think Fulham’s the name of the area of London they’re both in? Not sure about that. Might’ve misunderstood.

When:

6:00 AM American Central Standard Time tomorrow, which is Sunday.

How to Watch:

Peacock. I’m sleeping.

What’s at Stake:

Well, it depends what happens today, but basically Burnley’s trying to keep the good vibes going. Here’s how their section of the table looks entering the weekend (18th is the first relegation spot):

13. Wolverhampton: 23 Points, 20 Games Played
14. Crystal Palace: 23 Points, 20 Games Played
15. Burnley: 22 Points, 19 Games Played
16. Newcastle: 19 Points, 20 Games Played
17. Brighton (you never hear about Hove and Albion, do you?): 18 Points, 20 Games Played
18. Fulham: 13 Points, 19 Games Played

Newcastle goes to Everton, so Burnley’s probably not losing ground there. Wolverhampton and Crystal Palace play one another, so Burnley could pull even with the loser by tying or leapfrog both with a win and these guys tying. Fulham plays at West Brom, so there’s a good chance the relegation line moves up. And Brighton, also tomorrow, hosts Tottenham, so they might get a point but probably won’t get three.

In other words, Burnley’s trying to edge a little further up the table, but the downside risk isn’t losing their spot as much as it’s falling a bit closer to relegation.

The Odds:

I’m seeing Burnley at +850 to win, Chelsea at -290 to win, and a draw at +425. So, something like a 25% chance Burnley gets a point or more.

The Opponent:

Chelsea. They’ve got that American dude. Pusilic or whatever his name is.

(Lest you fear I’m an American soccer fan and not a Burnley fan first and foremost)

Burnley News:

Josh Brownhill’s foot will be ok, so he shouldn’t be out long if he doesn’t play tomorrow. Charlie Taylor and Ashley Barnes are questionable. The Bournemouth game in the FA Cup will be on Tuesday, February 9th. No Transfer Window happenings.

Bertie News:

Nothing. Probably still playing bingo.
