Burnley: About to Play Another Match

Is today the day Burnley finally wins? Probably not. But they might get a point. And we’ll take “might.”

Whom:

Burnley vs. Chelsea

What:

Premier League matchday number seven (match six for the Burnleys).

Where:

Turf Moor. An empty Turf Moor, but Turf Moor nonetheless.

When:

10:00 AM American Central Daylight Time

How to Watch:

It’s on TV! NBCSN. Can watch the first half before college football kicks off, then make the executive call. Or you can just keep checking Burnley’s Twitter account while delivering food. That’s more likely on this end if we’re being honest.

What’s at Stake:

Chelsea is not a team one needs to beat if one’s only goal, as Burnley’s is for at least the moment, is to avoid relegation. But beating them would sure help the lads, and a draw might at least bump the Clarets into sole possession of 18th, depending how this Sheffield match ends and what Fulham does.

The Odds:

The YAHOO SPORTS APP™ says BetMGM says Burnley’s at +450 to win, with Chelsea at -167 and a draw at +310. Which implies about a 60% chance Burnley loses, and then maybe 23% chance of a draw and a 17% chance of a win? One-in-six chance of winning. Role of a di. Die? Di in my heart.

The Opponent:

Chelsea. They’re good. One of the big six or whatever they’re called. Currently playing in the Champions League. Heavily favored to advance out of Group Play in that.

Burnley News:

Sean Dyche’s now been with the club for eight years, prompting a lot of social media love for the gaffer. An icon. Feel like eight years is a long time for a manager. No way to know, though.

Bertie News:

I mean I can find absolutely nothing on our guy. Very concerned.
