Big One for Burnley

Opportunity abounds.

Whom:

Burnley vs. Fulham

What:

EPL match number 24 for the Clarets

Where:

Turf Moor

When:

12:00 PM American Central Standard Time

How to Watch:

NBCSN

What’s at Stake:

This is, in a lot of ways, a free play for Burnley, like when Aaron Rodgers draws the defense offsides. They haven’t played as many matches as those around them in the table, and this one will catch them up. As such, it gives them an opportunity to gain some ground.

With a win, Burnley will jump both Brighton and Crystal Palace, moving into 14th (if it’s a real blowout, 13th is on the table, but then Southampton would have a game in hand and etc. etc. etc.). With a draw, Burnley will jump Brighton, moving into 15th.

There is some risk, though. With a loss, the gap between Burnley and Fulham, who’s currently the topmost team in line for relegation, would shrink from eight points to five.

So not all upside.

The Odds:

NBC says BetMGM says Burnley’s at +175, Fulham’s at +165, and a draw’s at +210.

The Opponent:

Fulham. Similar to Burnley in quality. Higher-paid, as is most of the Premier League. Struggling mightily this year, just like their last EPL stint back in 2018-19. Lot to play for today, though.

Burnley News:

Simon Stone had a look at Burnley’s financial picture—the club’s debt, Alan Pace’s outlook, etc.—for the BBC.

Ben Mee is out with that concussion from this weekend. Chris Wood, Dale Stephens, Erik Pieters, and Matěj Vydra are also out. Charlie Taylor’s back, though, which is a welcome sight.

Bertie News:

Nothing new. Miss that guy. Hope he’s cooking up some big plans for his return.
