Basically an Exhibition

Ehh, whatever.

The Result:

Tottenham 1, Burnley 0

How It Happened:

Burnley held with them most of the way, but 23 minutes into the second half, the Spurs got on the board, and Burnley could only muster one shot on goal themselves.

What It Means:

The League Cup is over for the Burnleys, but that was an inevitability. Not a bad run. Second straight year in the Round of 16, I believe.

What’s Next:

Back to league play on Saturday, when Brentford visits Turf Moor.

Other News:

Maxwel Cornet was a late substitute, implying he’s healthy. Ben Mee made his return.

Connor Roberts debuted. Got a yellow card. One of the guys!

This is old but did you know the women’s team’s streaming all their games on TikTok? I did not remember that.

Thoughts:

Seems like in a cup you should maybe play with a little less caution, with nothing to really lose? I don’t know, though. Maybe the right move is trying to play for a scoreless draw and give yourself a good chance in penalty kicks. Either way, not the biggest deal. Big one Saturday. Need that win.
