Bangers IV: Vote on the Field

The people have spoken, and the people want an all-star cast of bangers. We gave you three options, and you resoundingly chose the third: Bangers IV – All-Star Bangers.

What happens now? Well, we need to figure out which bangers are the all-stars.

We do have The People’s Rankings to help with this. The People’s Rankings are our formulaic aggregation of your votes within each bracket. Here they are for the 90’s Bangers Bracket, the 2000’s Bangers Bracket, and Bangers III (2010-2014). We know, though, that The People’s Rankings are imperfect. So, we’re only using those as half our input. For the other half, we’re asking you to vote.

There’s no Instagram voting for this. It’s all in the Google form. What we’re asking you to do is:

  • Select up to 21 bangers from the 90’s.
  • Select up to 22 bangers from the 2000’s.
  • Select up to 21 bangers from 2010 through 2014.

Why do the 2000’s get 22? Because of TiK ToK, the banger we mistakenly excluded from the 2000’s Bangers Bracket. One bracket had to get special treatment, and we decided to use that as justification.

You don’t have to choose exactly that many bangers—you can pick your favorites, that’s what I did—but you can’t choose more than the specified number in each category. If you do, we’ll chop off the bottom of your answers.

We’ll leave the form open until this Monday, April 10th, at 12:00 PM EDT. Once that time rolls around, we’ll tally up the results, average them with The People’s Rankings, and build out the bracket. Our current schedule is to release the bracket on Tuesday and begin voting on Wednesday, but that’s subject to change.

Here’s the link to the form. As always, please be cool. If we find evidence that someone is being uncool, we will eliminate the results in question. We don’t want to have to worry about that.

    1. It is a great question. A great, great question. Honestly, we thought that if it didn’t come up in the first three years, we were clear.

I will say: There’s nothing wrong with a 64-item tournament. It’s just that 32 teams is more selective. 68? Now *that* would be pushing it!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
