Yes, you read that correctly. Baker, Maxfield is running for public office.
I was down in San Marcos yesterday morning (don’t ask questions, it’s not important, but yes, I’ll be releasing a San Marcos travel guide shortly) and started seeing signs that looked like they said Baker Mayfield was running for City Council.
Turns out it was an x, not a y.
Also turns out Maxfield is the first name here.
According to a google search, this guy is older than Baker Mayfield, implying his parents named him after the quarterback six years before said quarterback was born (impressive), and whoever was writing on the birth certificate went a little long when drawing the short arm of the y (we’ve all done it, but rarely with such stakes). According to the same search, he’s a masseuse and a current planning/zoning commissioner.
I’ve been told by my editor to offer no endorsements in the San Marcos City Council race, but I’ll say this about Maxfield Baker: He’s got a lot of hair.
