Are minivans the NIT of automobiles? It’s hard to say. On the one hand, they’re extraordinarily practical, they get made fun of a lot, and American heroes drive them. On the other, I like to think of the NIT as the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile: perfection in its genre.
Regardless, last night when I was driving home to watch the Joe Kelly game, I heard a loud clanking sound and looked to my right to see a minivan flying (not literally, just driving fast) down the sidewalk. Yes, the sidewalk. I was on the frontage road heading south just past the Hancock HEB, and there was a backup at the 38th Street light, and this minivan could not wait. It zoomed (well, clanked). Must have turned on 40th there. (Or 41st? I forget where exactly I was.)
Anyway, minivan might be the NIT of automobiles. I’ll leave that up to you to decide. Consider the debate open.
