Announcing: NIT Stu’s 2019 NIT Pool!

Friends, and fellow NIT fans.

The greatest time of the year is upon us at last: NIT Season.

I’m sure you have your own traditions to celebrate, as I have mine, but I hope we can come together for this one: Picking NIT brackets against one another for the opportunity to win a package of merchandise from the soon-to-be-opened shop here at The Barking Crow, along with a $25 gift card to a yet-to-be-determined fast food establishment (last year we promised a Sbarro gift card, only to learn they don’t do gift cards, so we’re just covering our bases here).

Are you ready for this extraordinary experience?

Great! I am too.

We’ll have official terms and conditions posted somewhere on this website within the next few days, but here’s what you need to know, in the language of the common man:

  • Every round is worth 16 points, divided equally among the games. Picking the correct winners of games gets you points, as with any other bracket competition.
  • There will be a scoreboard on this website tracking the proceedings.
  • Submissions are due prior to tip-off of the first game Tuesday night, which at this time is scheduled for 7:00 PM Eastern Time. The first update will come Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, depending on when I get home from the Texas/South Dakota State game that night (An NIT game within walking distance of my home! Hooray!).
  • Barnaby & Lake LLC (that’s the company that runs this blog!) reserves the right to make any and all final decisions regarding the winner of this pool. So don’t try to do something fishy because legally, we just said we can kick you out (I think).
  • There is no entry fee. Anyone can join, provided an NIT bracket contest for blog merchandise and a gift card is legal wherever you reside.
  • We didn’t set up any interface for your bracket submissions, so we’re using a Google form. Please let us know if you have any issues submitting. You can email us at allthingsnit@gmail.com.
  • The first tiebreaker is picking the winner of the CBI. The second tiebreaker is picking the winner of the CIT. The third is guessing as closely as possible how many hot dogs I will eat while in New York for the NIT Final Four. If we’re still tied after that, we’ll just give all winners the same prize.
  • The winner will, as previously stated, receive free merchandise from The Barking Crow, as well as a $25 gift card to a fast food establishment of my personal choosing. The combined total value, at retail price, of the prize will be between $75 and $125 (we haven’t set our prices yet, so we aren’t committing to anything exact).
  • One bracket maximum per email address.

Got all that?

Great.
