You’ve waited long enough. It’s time for more brackets. Don’t let the headline sweep you away, though—we’re only doing one at a time.
The reasons we’re announcing both of our next two brackets at the same time are as follows:
- We weren’t sure how much you guys would like the one starting tomorrow, knowing the 90’s Bangers Bracket would be a tough act to follow, so we thought putting two out there would hedge our bets.
- We’re going to need your help soon in building the second bracket, which does not start tomorrow.
Without further ado, the next two brackets:
Tomorrow morning, we’ll unveil the Tournament of Pretty Things and begin voting. The concept is simple: Things that are pretty, but aren’t necessarily breathtakingly beautiful (“Light On” by Maggie Rogers did not make the field for this reason).
We decided upon the Tournament of Pretty Things after receiving positive feedback about the dopamine the Tournament of the Best produced in voters. Also, some folks got mad online about the way the 90’s Bangers Bracket ended, so we wanted something innocuous to calm everyone down before riling you all up again in a week and a half.
After the Tournament of Pretty Things, we’ll be doing a yet-unnamed bracket of the best supporting characters in television. When the Tournament of Pretty Things ends (in about a week and a half, as we implied just now), we’ll ask for nominations, so get thinking. The requirement will be that the character not be a main character, and we’ll probably limit shows to a maximum of two characters apiece (Troy and Abed can both make it from Community, but if they both do, Annie and Señor Chang cannot qualify). Again, get thinking.
