Álex Palou: Future of IndyCar?

Three stories from yesterday’s IndyCar season finale at Long Beach:

1. The street course is cool but not that cool.

F1 has Baku. IndyCar has a couple tracks with fountains in them. We gotta compete, guys, and I really think smalltown Indiana deserves a consideration.

2. Colton Herta won again.

The Californian swept the California races (*gritting my teeth to not say something about CaliCar*). Impressive work holding off Josef Newgarden, especially with the primary tires on for Palou.

3. Álex Palou is a champion.

The young man did it, and in our Future-of-IndyCar power rankings…he’s number one (thought about giving it to Herta but thought that’d be overthinking the thinks).

It was locked up pretty early in the race, when Pato O’Ward got wrecked by ahh who was that. Ed Jones! That’s who it was. Ed what were you thinking, man?? Anyway after that there was a chance of Palou still losing it, but he would’ve had to drop out and Newgarden would have had to win the race.

Now, the offseason begins.
