A Question About Breakfast Cocktails

Two things about me:

1. When I’m worried about getting sick (catching a cold, etc.), I make sure to drink orange juice. This is my best line of defense.

2. When I’m feeling generally unhealthy (eating weird, haven’t been sleeping, etc.), I make sure to drink V8. This is the magic pill, at least in my head.

With that established, you can imagine how the wheels started turning when I realized two popular breakfast cocktails—mimosas and bloody marys—incorporated those same drinks (V8 is basically tomato juice).

Which makes me ask: Did people invent those drinks in an attempt to stay healthy during benders? Is this common knowledge that I missed? Does it work?
