Hello.
You may have seen that there is a whale in the San Francisco Bay. I found out about this because I was on twitter dot com on my laptop computer and the sidebar that shows me trending topics said, “‘Very unusual’: There’s a whale in the SF bay right now.”
A whale!
In the San Francisco Bay!
As you might imagine, people have been making their jokes.
I would now like to make mine.
Now, there’s some context you’ll need to know for this joke. It’s possible you know it already, but I wouldn’t want anybody to feel left out as we ride the train to the joke station.
The first piece of context is that the population in the Bay Area is declining. At least, I think it is. I haven’t counted. But someone told me that it is, and it makes sense, because, you know, rent’s high and jobs are remote right now and the natural ebb and flow of society dictates that Austin’s gonna grow now and San Francisco’s gonna shrink a little bit.
The second piece of context is that the population decrease in the Bay Area is a small topic in America’s culture war. There’s a lot of context here that I’m afraid it would take too long to explain, ranging from the geography of Californian congressional districts to the talk radio industry, but basically, some people are eager to see the Bay Area have something “bad” happen to it, and other people are very sensitive to that first group of people, which makes it a touchy subject for two small, absurd portions of our country.
They are, in a way, the butt of this joke.
Ok, with that context established, I think it’s time to make the joke. So here it is:
About time SOMEBODY moved to San Francisco!
*high fives all around*
