90’s Bangers Bracket: Quarterfinal Results, Semifinal Voting

First, a quick plug: After the bangers, we’re going to do a bracket about cult leaders. Please help us choose the 64 best competitors for that one.

With that settled.

When we did this in 2020, our Final Four was Semi-Charmed Life, I Want It That Way, All The Small Things, and All Star.

What I’m taking away from this is that we’re all pretty confident in the three best bangers of the 1990s. To the degree that we might want to do a bracket sometime solely aimed at determining the fourth-best.

Here’s this year’s updated bracket:

The semifinals…

As has most often been the case with these brackets, there are three ways to vote:

The only rule is to not spam the votes. So far, no problems with this one. Thank you all for your good behavior.

Semifinal voting is open until 1:15 AM EDT tonight, so technically Friday May 24th. Championship voting is planned for tomorrow.

Quarterfinal results:

Semi-Charmed Life 25, What’s My Age Again? 13

We assumed the defending champion would win this one, but we never know with blink-182. You guys love blink-182. Which reminds me. Tom DeLonge would crush it if he chose to build a cult.

My Own Worst Enemy 20, Closing Time 18

Closing Time is taken down, this time by Lit. Can My Own Worst Enemy pull off the upset in today’s semis? It’s doubtful, if we’re being frank. But man. The song is a banger.

All The Small Things 31, Wonderwall 9

The dominance continues from All The Small Things. All four wins have come by twenty votes or more.

All Star 29, Mambo No. 5 (a Little Bit of…) 11

Did you guys know Lou Bega’s from Germany?
