Villanova’s Head Is Spinning

The bracketology update from this morning:

Moving Up: (blank)

Nobody rose more than one seed line from yesterday’s games.

Moving Down: Villanova

A bad loss for Villanova, especially with Justin Moore playing and playing as well as he did. It’s hard to know how the committee will adjust for the Collin Gillespie injury, but regardless, Villanova doesn’t look bound for the top four seed lines anymore.

Moving In: Utah State

The Aggies took advantage of an opening, but they’re not in the clear. Our model relies on median simulations, and in Utah State’s median simulation, they beat Colorado State. Which means if they lose this game, they’re probably on their way back out.

Moving Out: Boise State

And on the other side of the Mountain West, Boise State fell to Nevada yesterday in what should finish them. Could still slip back in, but not through anything they can control within the law and the rules of basketball.

Odds and Ends

The model accounts for Virginia exiting the ACC Tournament but does not account for Kansas exiting the Big 12 Tournament. No conference tournament probabilities again today due to the ongoing puppy crisis down in Austin (she’s fine, just a lot of work with all the meds and such). Apologies to all disappointed.
