Today’s Best Bets: The White Sox Are Still Bad

We’re taking another day off MLB futures today to save bankroll for football futures. Once someone clinches a division we should be fine again on cash flow, but that isn’t looking like it’ll happen until late next week.

Just moneylines, then. Heat Index plus a little spot-based. We’ll do this week’s football futures tomorrow.

Tampa Bay at Chicago (AL)

It’s possible Sean Burke won’t start this game, and that books are wrong in that expectation and this bet will push. Whoever it is, if the price is around here on the Rays, it’s hard to pass it up. The White Sox are still the White Sox.

Pick: Tampa Bay to win –135. 2.36 units to win 1.75. Jax and Burke must start.

St. Louis at Seattle

Heat Index has a new second choice, and it’s the Mariners. Who, in case you got curious like we did, don’t currently hold the AL West tiebreaker over the Astros but could take it by winning next weekend’s series in Houston.

Pick: Seattle to win –212. 2.47 units to win 1.17. McGreevy and Gilbert must start.

Colorado at Los Angeles

Heat Index’s first choice is still the Dodgers, which is to say it’s the Rockies to lose.

Pick: Los Angeles to win –319. 3.72 units to win 1.17. Freeland and Snell must start.

I am only roughly 90% confident in these numbers. At some point we’ll get that Google Sheet up which tracks all our bets this year.

2025–26: –485.66 units (started with 1,000-unit bankroll)

2025–26: –8% average ROI (weighted by unit; sample size: 717 single-game markets plus three completed futures portfolios)

Pre-2025: 0% average ROI (worse when limited to only sports)

Units taken from best odds we can find at major sportsbooks available to most Americans.

These bets are not investment advice. If you’re worried you or someone you know might have a gambling addiction, call 1-800-GAMBLER for free, confidential help.
