Today’s Best Bets: Straight Heat

Our undefeated NFL season is over, but what a run it was. Just baseball moneylines today, as we take a day off of futures to try to preserve bankroll for football futures later in the week.

Arizona at San Francisco

Still nothing spot-based, as we’re still wrapping our heads around the September landscape, especially in the AL. Heat Index’s second choice today is the Giants.

Pick: San Francisco to win –135. 1.43 units to win 1.06. Gallen and Ray must start.

Colorado at Los Angeles

Its first choice is again the Dodgers.

Pick: Los Angeles to win –318. 3.37 units to win 1.06. Marquez and Sheehan must start.

I am only roughly 90% confident in these numbers. At some point we’ll get that Google Sheet up which tracks all our bets this year.

2025–26: –487.78 units (started with 1,000-unit bankroll)

2025–26: –8% average ROI (weighted by unit; sample size: 715 single-game markets plus three completed futures portfolios)

Pre-2025: 0% average ROI (worse when limited to only sports)

Units taken from best odds we can find at major sportsbooks available to most Americans.

These bets are not investment advice. If you’re worried you or someone you know might have a gambling addiction, call 1-800-GAMBLER for free, confidential help.
