Today’s Best Bets: Rick Pitino vs. Kyle Neptune

For the first one, this is the very last minute. I apologize for that.

St. John’s @ Villanova

I get the concern about this game. Villanova has Eric Dixon. Villanova’s the home team. If St. John’s is going to get trapped, tonight makes sense, sandwiched between UConn and a chance to wrap up the Big East title at MSG (vs. Creighton). In the end, though, St. John’s has Rick Pitino, one of the best single-game coaches in college basketball history. Villanova has Kyle Neptune.

Pick: St. John’s –2 (–110). 10.00 units to win 9.09.

Florida State @ Wake Forest

I like this Wake Forest team. I like Steve Forbes. I like a team with a lot to play for facing a team with little to play for. Florida State won one game against one of the worst-performing teams in the ACC (which is saying a lot). Markets seem to be making too much of that.

Pick: Wake Forest –7 (–105). 10.00 units to win 9.52.

I am only roughly 90% confident in these numbers. We’ll get that Google Sheet up soon which tracks all our bets this year.

2025: –111.78 units (started with 1,000-unit bankroll)

2025: –7% average ROI (weighted by unit; sample size: 72 single-game markets)

Pre-2025: 0% average ROI (worse when limited to only sports)

Units taken from best odds we can find at major sportsbooks available to most Americans.
