Today’s Best Bets: Finally, Futures Value on the Dodgers

For those curious, we’ll probably start our college football futures on Wednesday or Thursday. Pretty unlikely we’ll get to them tomorrow, and we did not get to them today.

Washington at New York (AL)

Heat Index’s second choice today is the Yankees. Notably, Heat Index does not consider defense.

Pick: New York to win –233. 0.40 units to win 0.17. Lord and Schlittler must start.

Minnesota at Toronto

Heat Index’s first choice is the Blue Jays. On the one hand, we’re worried about this because Joe Ryan’s a stud. On the other, the Twins just had a real tough time against the White Sox.

Pick: Toronto to win –139. 0.24 units to win 0.17. Ryan and Scherzer must start.

Pittsburgh at St. Louis

And on the spot-based side, we like the Cardinals tonight. Credit to the Pirates for taking a series from the Blue Jays then sweeping the Rockies, but the Rockies are the Rockies and the Pirates are the Pirates. We think Michael McGreevy gets the job done tonight.

Pick: St. Louis to win –126. 0.23 units to win 0.18. Oviedo and McGreevy must start.

NL West

It’s rare that FanGraphs says any futures price is good value on the Dodgers. FanGraphs says that about this one, though. And with only Dodgers downside in our portfolio, that means we’re going to take it.

Pick: Los Angeles to win –170. 4.00 units to win 2.35.

I am only roughly 90% confident in these numbers. At some point we’ll get that Google Sheet up which tracks all our bets this year.

2025–26: –496.53 units (started with 1,000-unit bankroll)

2025–26: –8% average ROI (weighted by unit; sample size: 637 single-game markets plus three completed futures portfolios)

Pre-2025: 0% average ROI (worse when limited to only sports)

Units taken from best odds we can find at major sportsbooks available to most Americans.
