Today’s Best Bets: Can the Tigers Come Back?

*Whispers*

There’s still futures value on the Dodgers but we’re passing on it for today.

Detroit at Cleveland

This is Heat Index’s second choice today. It’s pricey, but Heat Index is worthwhile for a reason.

Pick: Cleveland to win –147. 3.06 units to win 2.08. Flaherty and Bibee must start.

Colorado at Seattle

This, once again, is Heat Index’s first choice. The Mariners can clinch the division with a win.

Pick: Seattle to win –280. 5.93 units to win 2.08. Gordon and Castillo must start.

World Series

With a little bit down on the Dodgers, our new biggest serious postseason threat is the Red Sox. There’s a little bit of value on them at 20-to-1. We’ll grab it to shore up our edges.

Pick: Boston to win +2000. 2.00 units to win 40.00.

AL Central

We’re big believers in momentum down the stretch, but momentum is fickle and hard to sustain. We would not by any stretch call the Tigers the favorites to win the Central, but we do see value here.

Pick: Detroit to win +180. 2.00 units to win 3.60.

I am only roughly 90% confident in these numbers. At some point we’ll get that Google Sheet up which tracks all our bets this year.

2025–26: –467.38 units (started with 1,000-unit bankroll)

2025–26: –7% average ROI (weighted by unit; sample size: 781 single-game markets plus three completed futures portfolios and one partly completed futures portfolio)

Pre-2025: 0% average ROI (worse when limited to only sports)

Units taken from best odds we can find at major sportsbooks available to most Americans.
