The Barking Crow’s 2021 NIT Bracket Challenge

Here’s a link to a printable bracket (buckethat tip to Stewie, a friend of the blog who suggested linking to it).

Congratulations to Alex Briseño, the man behind 2019 NIT CHAMPS, 4EVER, our winning entry. If you would like to see how your submission stacked up, the final scoreboard is here.

For those wondering how the tiebreakers shook out: There were, by my count, 406 turnovers. There were, by my count, 505 turnovers. It is unclear whether the birthplace of Alben Barkley or Adlai Stevenson is the closest to the eastern edge of the campus of Mississippi State (it is too close to tell without an exact address for at least the latter), but the next time I find myself in southwest Kentucky, please remind me to get some coordinates from each and put the matter to bed.

Rules:

  • One submission per email address.
  • If field changes before first game tips, you can resubmit. If you don’t resubmit, your bracket stands as entered. After the first game tips, no one can resubmit.
  • Scoring: One point for each first round game winner. Two points for each quarterfinal winner. Four points for each semifinal winner. Eight points for correctly picking third-place team. Twelve points for correctly picking champion.
  • Tiebreakers: First tiebreaker is total turnovers in the tournament. Second is total fouls. Third is Vice President whose birthplace is closest to the eastern edge of the runner-up’s campus.
  • Prize: We’ll give the winner at least one t-shirt. We’ll also give the winner at least one sticker. We’re open to negotiations on this.
  • Our word is final on any disputes that may arise.
  • You have to have fun. If you don’t have fun, you’re disqualified.

Love you.
