The vaccination rollout is happening. The latest update from the CDC is from yesterday, and it says roughly 2.7% of the American population has received at least the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. It isn’t clear what part of the population makes up that 2.7%—states are in charge of their own rollouts, and the described rollout doesn’t always seem to align with what’s happening in practice. Disagreements can be had about how to properly weight getting as many people vaccinated as possible and getting the highest-priority people vaccinated. I don’t have any way of measuring the latter. But the former, we do have data on, and it’s that same CDC data. So, for whatever it’s worth, here’s what percent of each state’s population has received the first dose of a coronavirus vaccine. South Dakota is currently at the top of the pack.
