NIT Bracketology Rundown, Post-Yale

Hello again. First, two links:

Yale is in, VCU is out. The Bulldogs lost the Ivy League Tournament championship to Princeton, claiming an automatic bid, while the Rams beat Dayton in the Atlantic 10, leaving one last automatic bid unclaimed.

We still have Dayton in as an at-large, now as our last team in. We’ve removed Seton Hall to make room for Yale. Yale is now our first team out.

How the Lower Bubble now looks, to us:

  • Last Seven In (NIT, from cut line going upwards): Dayton, Virginia Tech, Washington State, Villanova, Colorado, Santa Clara, Cincinnati
  • First Four Out: Seton Hall, Nebraska, UCF, Wake Forest
  • Next Four Out: San Jose State, Saint Louis, Marshall, UNLV
  • Wildcards: Utah, St. John’s, BYU, Tulane, Loyola Marymount, Fordham
  • Sub-.500: Oklahoma, Ohio State

The Yale loss is bad news for everyone on this list. But. We wouldn’t be stunned to see any of the 21 teams above in the eventual field (21 because we’d be very surprised to see Oklahoma or Ohio State).

Our next update will come after the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, where we’ll find out who’s out on the Upper Bubble and who the NIT 1-seeds are.

Thanks for following along.

  1. WSU a four seed again! They were in and out of your bubble all week, and weekend….and you basically said will they get to .500 again? When they were slated to play crap teams ahead of that…..and got overlooked again almost. Go cougs!
