Iowa State Falls Short Against Oklahoma—Four Thoughts

1. Iowa State could not buy a bucket.

This isn’t a criticism of Iowa State. They played one of their best games of the year. They just couldn’t get shots to fall, which is unfortunately a thing that sometimes happens. Besides that…

2. Iowa State looked pretty good.

The turnovers were limited. They moved the ball better. They made some things happen defensively. It was an encouraging day. Doesn’t change the season, but encouraging, and hopefully it portends better times next winter.

3. Solomon Young played better.

Good to see some efficient scoring from the big man.

4. Jaden Walker can take some time to develop.

Walker’s absence for so much of the game was noteworthy. A lot of pressure has been placed on the freshman to be the answer, and he just isn’t the kind of player who’s going to be the answer as a freshman. Hopefully he takes the benching positively.
