1. Two chances left.
The number dwindles further. This isn’t surprising, but it does mathematically reduce the probability Iowa State will win a Big 12 game this year. No conference wins at Hilton, either, which I guess hadn’t fully registered.
2. Turnovers.
So many. Again. Oof.
3. What’s there to work with?
There are a few questions that are going to be bouncing around over the next few weeks as we await word on Steve Prohm’s future. One of them is whether Prohm’s capable of getting this team back to consistent contention for tournament berths and finishes in the league’s top half. The other is how much there is within the program right now out of which to make something, and therefore whether it’s going to have to be a long rebuild, like the one Fred Hoiberg’s undergoing at Nebraska, or a redirection back to contention, as might be the case at, say, Minnesota if Richard Pitino’s out up there. That’s a hard piece of this. These guys haven’t produced good results together. It’s not about getting back to something they had. It’s about making something happened that, for them, hasn’t happened before.
