Fargo Friday: The Dog Discovered Snuggling

This is Fargo.

Fargo has something to say.

HELLO.

it is i…the fargs. the fargorita. the one they call fargo. i am back. and i am a little sleepy.

as many of you (hello, grandmothers) know, it has been a long week. long month, really. i have pooped on the floor once or twice (twice). i do not like to do that. i am a good dog. good dogs do not poop on the floor. unless they are ill, that is. i was ill. still am. getting better, though. i eat rabbit now. warn the rabbits. i’m coming for them. warn the potatoes also. they are also in the food and i’m told they will be easier to catch than the rabbits.

ANYHOO.

the thing i have come to tell you all is…

i have discovered snuggling.

I KNOW!

great stuff.

and you don’t even know what it is yet.

yes, my invention (or discovery depends who or whom or whoms or whomst you ask) is called snuggling, and this is what it is:

you get on the couch (preferably with a little help because i mean yeah i can do it myself but it is more fun when the people boost my little butt up there for me after i stand with my front paws on it looking around for said boost)

you get the people on the couch.

you perhaps get one of the people to hold your favorite bone while you chew it.

you lie down with your body against them and your head on their lap and you feel all happy and warm inside and they feel all happy and warm inside and then perhaps you get a little toasty so you have to stand for a moment and pant but then you lie back down in an EVEN MORE COMFORTABLE snuggling position.

pretty great, right?

i am, as they tell me, a smart dog.

this is a new development in my world. previously, i’d dabbled with human contact, but i preferred to do so either in an ecstatic surge of bliss (the butt-waggling, as it is known) or only briefly before going to lie down a few feet away. now, i realize the contact can be SUSTAINED. FOR A LONG TIME. WE CAN SPEND A LONG TIME ON THE COUCH TOGETHER it really is the best you guys.

as you may guess, because my lungs had an infection and my belly was all inflamed and another part of my belly was also inflamed and wasn’t doing the thing it was supposed to do (push the food towards my butt), i am rather tired these days. i do not have the same energy for general rambunction that is oft my custom. but dammit, guys, do i have the energy to snuggle. weeknight, weekend, weekday morning while the male is typing on the stupid computer and not letting me type on the stupid computer…i snuggle. i snuggle now. it, like many things, is the best.

Fargo is a dog. She is our dog.
