*gallop around apartment barking*

i love me a good friday.

BUT ENOUGH ABOUT WHAT I LOVE

i got attacked by a bird this week.

i know, i know, probably a case of mistaken identity, or perhaps they saw me pick up the dead bird the day before but THAT BIRD WAS NOT A BIRD I KILLED I HAVE NEVER KILLED A BIRD I SIMPLY WAS EXAMINING THE DEAD ONE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE TASTY

whatever the cause, i was attacked

viciously

it poked my back

being the good dog that i am (editor’s note: Fargo came home from daycare Monday having eaten and rolled in so much poop that we’re still finding it in her beard), i was minding my own business the other day, walking past some bushes, sniffing the smells and tasting the tastes and wagging my little butt around because it was a day and on days i am happy, when VWOOMPASCRAWCAHHHHCAHHHHCAHHH a bird came out of the bush and gave me a not-love tap. on the back. i was…

startled.

also a little scared.

which is why i barked a little baby Fargs bark (did not know i still had that in me) and tucked my tail between my legs while looking back to see what had happened (did not see what had happened i need a haircut so bad i have fur in my eyes you guys and also in my mouth somehow)

if you are worried about me being scared of encountering that same spot again, fret not. i have walked past it THREE times since then with nary a hesitant step. color me brave.

and yet

the scream of the grackle haunts me

as does its wings flapping close to my ears

as does the thought of its claws (beak?) touching my back

i will befriend you, grackle.

you will know how fun i am.

Fargo is a dog. She is our dog.
