Well, Ian Happ and Frank Schwindel had good days. And Scott Effross did some solid things out of the bullpen.

The Diaspora:
Craig Kimbrel blew a save for the White Sox last night, allowing a run over one inning of work. Javy Báez homered for the Mets.
Around the Division:
The Cardinals beat the Reds, 6-4, and with the Padres losing moved within two games of that almost-tie between San Diego and Cincinnati. The Brewers threw a combined Corbin Burnes/Josh Hader no-hitter against Cleveland, but Rowdy Tellez is going to have an MRI for a knee problem, which is concerning for Milwaukee.
Up Next:
Final chance of the weekend.

Whom:
Cubs vs. San Francisco
When:
1:20 PM Chicago Time
Where:
Wrigley Field
Weather:
A high of 83 degrees, with the wind migrating as the game goes on from blowing in from the left-field corner to blowing in from left-center, all at perhaps ten miles per hour.
Starting Pitchers:
Justin Steele vs. Logan Webb
The Opponent:
Webb missed some time earlier this summer, but he’s had a great year overall. 2.64 ERA. 2.81 FIP. 3.27 xERA. 21 starts, one relief appearance. 119.1 IP. 3.1 fwAR. Tough one.
The Numbers:
The Cubs are +180 underdogs, with the Giants at -220 for an implied Cubs win probability of about 33%. The over/under’s somewhere around 10½.
Cubs News:
Jason Heyward took a blow to the head in a collision on the basepaths yesterday, so hopefully he’s alright.
Cubs Thoughts:
Hopefully Steele can keep building. More light contact. Continued improvement in the walk department. Perhaps an additional strikeout or two but I won’t be too picky.
